Post Holi Skin and Hair Regime

Adding to the festive season package here’s our blog of special tips for post holi skin and hair care regime!

The festival of Holi brings about an unexplainable joy in our hearts. Colors, smiling faces and of course chole puri and puran poli are the highlights for me (don’t start drooling now). And how did I forget! Being the incurable romantic that I am, Holi also brings out that side of me thanks to our good old Bollywood. I adore the numbers like Rang Barse, Soni Soni, Balam Pichkari etc. which depict a couple deeply in love teasing and flirting with each other in the midst of enjoying this beautiful festival.

The only flipside of this festival is the damage that takes place to your skin and lovely tresses. My skin is quite accommodating that way so, I never had any trouble with it post Holi. But, my long (and already frizzy) tresses become a hair stylists’s nightmare. To cut the story short, I am sharing some tried and tested post Holi tips and tricks to get you out of your misery 😊

Skin care

Ditch those soaps

Your first and the most important hack is to avoid using soaps or face washes of any kind as they are alkaline in nature and will dry your skin. Just wash your face with cold water.

Good old oils to your rescue

Your best rescue after ditching soaps are pure almond or coconut oil. Take a generous amount and massage it on your skin. Let it sit for 5 mins or so, wipe it off with a damp cloth and see the magic.

Moisturise

Post your beauty bath, ensure to moisturise your skin with a good cream (my favourite is the strawberry body butter range from Body Shop). If your skin is still dry and itchy, an aloe vera gel always come to your rescue.

Hair Care

Shampooing

It goes without saying that you will be shampooing and conditioning your hair first. The only thing to be kept in mind is to avoid using very hot water for the same. A very effective technique is to stand under the shower for about 5 minutes and let the colour drain out from your hair.

DIY Hair Mask

Try out this very simple mask to make your hair smooth, shiny and soft.

Olive oil – ½ tablespoon

Coconut oil – 1 tablespoon

Honey – 1 teaspoon Yogurt – 1 teaspoon

Make a mixture of these ingredients, apply on your hair, keep it for about 1 hour and wash it off for effective results

Remember, it takes a few washes to remove the colors completely from your hair so don’t fret. Enjoy the festival, spread happiness and binge on yummy sweets guilt free as Holi comes only once a year.

Happy Holi!!!
